Report from Mr McGilligan, Minister for External Affairs and Industry and Commerce

Consideration was given to a memorandum dated 18th October1 from Mr McGilligan, Minister for External Affairs and Industry and Commerce, relating to a meeting of the Heads of Delegations held in London on the 17th instant in connection with the Conference of Inter-Dominion Experts.

He reported the progress which had been made in regard to the following matters:-

(a) The question of succession of the Crown,
(b) The enforcement of discipline on armed forces in the territory of other Dominions, and indicated the policy which in his opinion should be adopted by the Irish Representatives in further discussions on these subjects. He asked, however, for a specific direction from the Cabinet.

The matter was discussed at length and the Minister's proposals on each of the subjects in question approved.

The Assistant Secretary was directed to inform Mr McGilligan accordingly.
