No. 275 NAI DFA 244/8C

Telegram from Leopold H. Kerney to the Department of External Affairs (Dublin)
(No. 51) (Personal) (Copy)

Madrid, 24 August 1940

Your 58.1 Travelling East has reached destination foreshadowed in my telegram No. 342 precise whereabouts not ascertainable here. I suggest advising Brennan though I consider assumed name and passport not unlikely. No objection here to information leaking out but please note only knowledge I am supposed to have is that he escaped with help of American friends and I understand any official enquiry would be answered accordingly. I suggest deferring official enquiry until rumour affords pretext.
