Note by Joseph P. Walshe on John W. Dulanty's meeting re British-Irish trade agreement

Dublin, 22 December 1936

The High Commissioner had a conversation with Messrs. Overton (Board of Trade) and Street (Agriculture) continuing till a late hour last evening. At the end of this conversation he was informed that the British Government agreed

(1) that the existing trade arrangements should continue for another year,

(2) that discussions should take place as soon as possible with a view to mutual adjustments within the general framework of the existing arrangement for facilitating trade between the two countries.

It is unlikely that there will be anything further to report until after Christmas.
