Desmond FitzGerald and Eoin MacNeill to Diarmuid O Hegarty (Dublin)

LONDON, 5 November 1923

A Chara,

Your letter of 3rd instant1 received.

1. IMPERIAL CONFERENCE

(a) We note that you agree with us as to the undesirability of adopting resolutions at the Imperial Conference.

(b) We note the amendments you suggest to the draft Address to the King. We have not seen this draft Address. We shall see Mr. Mackenzie King.

(c) With reference to our return, on Thursday next, 8th instant, a general report on the whole Conference will be produced. We are advised that it is important that we should be present on this occasion. This will be the last point in the Imperial Conference of any importance. We shall probably therefore return at the week end.

2. BOUNDARY COMMISSION

(a) Publication of Correspondence. Noted.

(b) Date of Preliminary Meeting. We think consideration of the date of this meeting should be left till our return.

(c) Registration of Treaty at Geneva. In our opinion registration of the Treaty at Geneva has no bearing whatever upon the Boundary Commission. We think that there is no great urgency in this matter and as we believe that a satisfactory precedent exists we think details of this precedent should first be obtained. Mr. Kevin O'Shiel may have such details.

Mise, le meas,
[signed] D. FITZGERALD & E. MACNEILL
