Dublin, 20 October 1931

Constitution (Amendment No. 18) Bill, 1931

Consideration of this measure which deals with the amendment of Article 66 of the Constitution was deferred for two months.

Supreme Court (Confirmation of Judgement) Bill, 1931

Consideration of the above measure was deferred for two months.

The Bill referred to in item No. 2 above was originally drafted as Constitution (Amendment No. 17) Bill, but in the meantime another Bill of the same title dealing with the insertion of an Article in the Constitution (2A) has been introduced and has become law.

Memo: The two Bills referred to above are supplementary. It was felt that either, if enacted alone, would not achieve the desired effect.

Memo: The Minister does not wish this matter to go on agenda until further notice.
