Letter from Joseph P. Walshe to Thomas J. Kiernan (Holy See)

DUBLIN, 31 March 1943

Dear Kiernan,
A Mr. Mountain, who is a Jewish friend of Deputy Briscoe,1 is very anxious about his sister and her family in Belgium. He fears that they are in danger of being sent to a concentration camp. We cannot, of course, make any official representations on their behalf but it occurred to me that you might be able to ask the Vatican Information Bureau, or some other body of that kind, to do what they could on her behalf. The sister's name is Ellinor Dirdak and her address 109, Chaussée de Malines, Antwerp. She is 43 years of age. The other members of the family are

Louis - husband aged 50
Clement ) " 18
) sons
Sylvain ) " 16

Yours sincerely,
[signed] J. P. WALSHE
