Dearg code telegram from the Department of External Affairs to all missions
(Immediate) (Washington No. 334)

Dublin, 28 June 1950

Minister expects all missions to keep the Department fully and promptly informed of developments of policy and opinion in their countries of accredition in relation to present situation in South Korea. Press comment without critical evaluation is no help. What Minister wants is information of estimates of situation formed by officials and other qualified persons and your own critical analysis of the attitude and probable future policy of your country of accredition evidenced in official statements, speeches, authoritative Press comments, etc. Pending clarification of situation, Minister wishes all heads of missions to give first priority to prompt execution of this instruction.
