No. 518 NAI DFA 419/44
BERLIN, 29 November 1944
Your tel. 253.1 By virtue of recent decision these questions in future must be treated with Political Department instead of immediately competent section of Foreign Office my tel. 28.2 The Political Department official responsible for Ireland with whom I have excellent relations and to whom I submitted matter Nov. 28 told me in informal conversation that while they are anxious to help us in every way in matters affecting our interests directly or indirectly, they would find it difficult to understand how question of Lithuanian Jews could affect us particularly. I should like to know what line to take whether e.g. matter is of importance to us because of possible hostile propaganda if we were to seem to be indifferent in such cases.
