Handwritten draft of a letter from Frank Aiken to Frank Pakenham (London)

Dublin, 5 July 1951

Many thanks for your kind note.

I need not tell you how delighted I am that Dev is again in a position to influence the relations between these two peoples and that there is in the Admiralty a man1 whom we regard with so much affection and esteem.

I pray God that during our terms of office we may help to bring success to the noble cause of Anglo-Irish friendship.

With all good wishes to yourself and Lady Pakenham.

1 Aiken was referring to Pakenham, who was First Lord of the Admiralty from May to October 1951.
