| China | Recognition has not been withdrawn from the so-called Nationalist Government now functioning in Formosa. Accordingly, we continue to recognise that Government as the Government of the Republic of China. | |
| Germany | The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany is recognised as the only Government in Germany. Missions should be particularly careful to avoid any contact with representatives of the so-called ‘German Democratic Republic’. | |
| Poland | Recognition is still accorded to the Polish Government-in-exile as the lawful Government of Poland as constituted before the Second World War. | |
| USSR | Ireland recognises de jure the Government of the USSR. We do not, however, recognise the incorporation in the territory of the USSR of the three Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. | |
