No. 164 NAI DFA ES Box 17 File 16
DUBLIN, 22 November 1923
The Secretary
Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Further to our 'phone conversation this morning we have wired to Mr. Duane of the Berlin Office that his resignation has been accepted. He has been instructed to close the office and dispose of the furniture.
As conditions of living in Berlin have become impossible and as there is no need, in the view of both our Ministries, for retaining an Office there in the present circumstances, the Minister of External Affairs considers that the consideration of a new appointment can be postponed indefinitely.
