Renunciation of War - Proposed International Pact

The Minister for External Affairs reported that he had communicated with the British Government expressing on behalf of the Saorstát Government complete agreement with the principle of the proposals of the United States Government for a multilateral treaty for the outlawry of war, and stating that on receipt of an invitation from the latter Government the Saorstát Government would be willing to participate in any negotiations which might be necessary for the conclusion of the Treaty.

With a view to safeguarding the constitutional position, he proposed to send a further communication to the effect that it should be understood that such invitation should be transmitted through the United States Minister at Dublin.

This was approved.
