This morning conference. It is irritating to be dealing with men who are badly briefed. They were discussing the matters and had (or pretended to have) the wrong end of the stick. I told them that I had dealt with the matter in 1926 and what the circumstances were. MacDonald said I was wrong and proceeded to prove it by reading from the report - and landed on a sentence that just proved what I said. That sort of thing happens constantly - and makes them irritable.
