My Lord,
I have the honour to state, for the information of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom, that His Majesty's Government in the Irish Free State have now reaffirmed their decision to seek, at the next session of the Assembly of the League of Nations, the election of the Irish Free State to a non-permanent seat on the Council of the League.
2. You are no doubt aware that the principal delegate of the Commonwealth of Australia at the Tenth Assembly of the League mentioned at a meeting of the representatives of His Majesty's Governments that his Government were considering the question of seeking election to the Council on the expiry of Canada's term in September, 1930. It has, however, been ascertained from His Majesty's Government in Australia that it is not now their desire to seek election.1
3. His Majesty's Government in the Irish Free State trust in the circumstances that the Irish Free State may have the support of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom for their candidature.
