Extract from a handwritten letter from Michael Rynne to Joseph P. Walshe (Dublin)

Geneva, 2 July 1936

Enclosed herewith are two copies of the President's speech1 which he delivered at the Assembly this afternoon. As you know, the speech was mainly prepared by the President himself without much reference to the various drafts or memos submitted to him before he left for Geneva. It was very well received considering its rather general tone and the fact that it was made on the third day of the session when most of the principal speeches were over. A number of persons came up after the speech to congratulate the President, including Mr. Paul Boncour and Mr. de Madariaga.
