Handwritten notes passed between Frederick Boland and Michael Rynne regarding Francis Cremins' confidential report to Joseph Walshe of 18 April 1939

Dublin, 21 April 1939

Dr. Rynne1,
I doubt whether the course suggested by Mr. Cremins is really politic. What do you think?

[initialled] F.H.B.

Assistant Secretary

While Mr. Cremins' sentiments are no doubt, admirable, it is hard to see what benefit this country would derive out of a démarche by the Minister such as he suggests. Unless we could be sure that such a démarche would result to our international prestige (and not the contrary) it had better not be tried at present
