Letter from Robert Brennan to Joseph P. Walshe (Dublin)
(108/13/40)

Washington, 7 March 1940

On Monday, February 26th, I gave a dinner party for Mr. David Gray, the newly appointed Minister to Ireland. Amongst the guests were Mr. Justice Douglas of the Supreme Court, Senator Murray of Montana, Representative Shanley of Connecticut, Mr. Thomas Burke, Chief of the Division of International Communications of the State Department, Mr. Garth Healy and their wives.

Mr. Gray told me that he was visiting the British Ambassador on the following day, and that he intended to impress on him the necessity of ending partition.

[stamped] (signed) Robt. Brennan
