Your 61.1 Several weeks ago Murphy applied to German military authorities for permission to visit Paris in order to deal with questions regarding Irish citizens and to obtain some things from Legation including winter clothing.2 After several reminders permission has been refused, no reason being given. Murphy cannot understand this as several of his colleagues have been allowed to visit Paris in the last couple of months – some more than once – including Yugoslav and Finnish Ministers.
Please see Under-Secretary of State W. and urge him to obtain sanction for visit. You should say that we cannot understand discrimination against Ireland.
