Rome, 29 January 1941

Official Italian feeling towards Ireland has become more friendly, particularly since our attitude was clarified November 7th. Political importance of the Irish in America also seems to be appreciated, and their opposition to Administration policy has not escaped attention. Italian newspapers are very friendly and exploit every criticism of our attitude to Britain's disadvantage.
