Your 207.1 Consult with our friends about desirability of going back to President and informing him Taoiseach has repeatedly declared that Ireland would defend herself against all aggression from whatever quarter it came. For example they could give him Taoiseach's statement made in Ennis on Saturday text of which already sent to you.2 They should say ammunition for rifles absolutely essential and try to get consent of President for general purchase of arms. Moreover they should correct his misunderstanding of Red Cross offer. If you consider it advisable you could speak in same sense to State Department.
