No. 241 NAI DFA Secretary's Files P2
WASHINGTON, 14 November 1942
There is evidence of concerted campaign here to put Ireland in the wrong light, particularly emphasising that country is centre of vast espionage and is imminent and vital danger to Allied cause.
Helen Kirkpatrick1 is now on unpublicised lecture tour, giving her personal experiences in Ireland, proving that Ireland's neutrality constitutes immediate danger to American and British forces.
We have reports of Press and Radio activities on these lines recently from San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, New York.
We are doing our very best to combat, but we are not satisfied that our efforts are enough.
