Although French minister your telegram 2681 gave us a false idea of date of his communication to Vichy and was wrong in doing so that is not a factor which we can allow to influence our attitude. We do not intend to recognise Committee or to receive special agent from them but we cannot take any positive action against Laforcade beyond ceasing to treat him as Minister if he is fired. Our attitude towards him is and will be purely passive. Please so inform friend.
