'Proposed Council of Europe: inquiry regarding Ireland's attitude towards membership'
(GC 5/67) (Item 1) (S14455)

Dublin, 8 February 1949

The Minister for External Affairs reported that he had received an inquiry from the French Minister in Dublin whether Ireland would be prepared to become a member of the proposed Council of Europe if formally invited to do so.1

On the recommendation of the Minister, he was authorised to inform the French Minister that Ireland would accept the invitation if extended.
