Diarmuid O'Hegarty to F.B. Bourdillon (London)

DUBLIN, 21 November 1925

Sir,

I have to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 20th instant1 regarding the Conference which it was proposed should take place at the Commission's Offices on the 24th instant.

I am to state that Dr. MacNeill has tendered to my Government his resignation as a member of the Commission. This being so, a Conference with the Commission is obviously impossible.

In order to avoid inconvenience the High Commissioner of the Irish Free State at London was requested by telephone this morning to acquaint you of the acceptance of Dr. MacNeill's resignation and of the consequent cancellation of the Conference.

I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
[copy letter unsigned]
Secretary to the Executive Council
