Trade discussions with U.S.A.
Dear Boland,
In case there should be any talks with United States representatives at Geneva I am enclosing copy of Mr. MacWhite's latest report1 on this question, which I must say is not very hopeful. It does appear that the United States will not be in a hurry to deal with our case. Even when they come to take up negotiations with European countries it is most likely that they will try to deal in the first instance with those countries with whom they have a large volume of trade and that would mean that the Saorstát case is likely to be postponed.
