Code telegram from Joseph P. Walshe to Robert Brennan (Washington)
(No. 143) (Copy)

Dublin, 29 April 1939

Tell them go ahead and explain full gravity as in my 1421. Also tell them emphasise in strongest fashion occupation by British forces of six counties of Ireland is against will of more than three fourths of the Irish people at home and the vast majority of our race everywhere. We regard this occupation as a continuing act of aggression. Britain has of course no more right to conscript our people in the six counties than France or Germany.
